Breakout Sessions 32 | S OCIAL & E MOTIONAL L EARNING EXCHANGE 2019 Day 1 - Thursday, October 3, 2019 Afternoon Session 3:20pm - 4:30pm Reimagining Leadership to Create Equitable and Socially Intelligent Organizations and Teams Session focus area: Practice Topic: Advancing equity Join this instructive workshop to explore some of the key paradigm shifts required of us as leaders committed to building thriving multi-racial, multi- cultural organizations and teams. Many of us have learned to operate as if the problems we care most about are “complicated” when in reality, they are “complex.” Similarly, because of the history and enduring legacy of white supremacy, many of our organizational policies and practices undermine the well-being of leaders and reproduce systemic inequities. Leadership for equity is required to build truly humanizing spaces in which all members of our team can bring their full selves to our shared mission.
