CASEL’s Founders Reception and Dinner - Celebrating 25 Years is a first-of-its kind evening to commemorate the founding of the field of social and emotional learning (SEL) and the legacy of CASEL. The CASEL community is invited to celebrate the influential leaders who catalyzed the SEL movement and our incredible progress as a field to date, while setting a course for the next 25 years. Lead Sponsor: Presenting Sponsor: Mindful Movement Dates/Time: October 3 & 4, 6:15am - 7:00am Description: This session offers time and space to integrate new knowledge and connections through embodied-experiential practice. Attendees will participate in mindful experiences that include intention-setting, breath work, and movement. This work supports positive relationships across identities—different nationalities, races, gender identities, body types, and life stories. Movement is taught in a way that is accessible to people of all ages and body types. All people of any ability are welcomed—you don’t need to touch your toes to join this class! Instructor Biography: Lori Nathanson, Ph.D., RYT, is a researcher, education consultant, yoga teacher, meditator, Reiki practitioner, and lifelong learner. As a researcher with expertise in emotional intelligence, she values both evidence and emotions. As a yogi, she integrates body and mind by teaching yoga and movement through her own practice. As a facilitator, she integrates her professional and personal learning in the service of others. Lori earned her BA at Duke University and her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) training at Yogamaya in New York City, where she teaches vinyasa flow and restorative yoga classes. She serves as a board member for YogaFoster, which offers free and low-cost training, lesson plans, yoga mats and more for educators to bring yoga and mindfulness in the classrooms.
