2 | AUDITORIUM THEATRE 2018-19 | April 11 - May 19, 2019 Welcome to the Auditorium Theatre! During April and May, we will close out our 2018-19 Season with three thrilling events. We begin our four-year partnership with American Ballet Theatre in April with the Chicago premiere of the whimsical story ballet Whipped Cream , a colorful production that features stunning choreography by Alexei Ratmansky and jaw-dropping sets and costumes by the artist Mark Ryden . We look forward to having America’s National Ballet Company ® on our stage for many years to come. Our 2018-19 National Geographic Live Series dedicated to powerful and inspirational women concludes on May 7 with Point of No Return. National Geographic explorer and professional mountain climber Hilaree Nelson will share her stories of traveling to the top of the treacherous Hkakabo Razi mountain, illustrated by stunning photos and video taken on the expedition. Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg returns to our stage May 17-19 to give the North American premiere to the brand-new ballet The Pygmalion Effect , inspired by the classic Greek myth. Boris Eifman , the company’s founder and artistic director, has put his own unique spin on the story, giving it a darkly comedic twist. This summer, campers from our Hearts to Art performing arts camp will come together for the 15 th year! Learn more about this unique program, specifically for young people ages 7-14 who have experienced the death of a parent, on page 14 of this program, and stay up to date with camp online at HeartstoArt.org . As our 2018-19 Season comes to an end, we look ahead to our exciting 2019-20 Season , in which we will commemorate the Auditorium Theatre’s 130 th year . We are thrilled to bring the Bolshoi Ballet back to Chicago for the first time in 16 years in June 2020, performing Yuri Grigorovich’s Swan Lake .
