Luke Bandoske THIS IS HALLOWEEN: The Auditorium Theatre Presents: The Nightmare Before Christmas! There’s a new Halloween tradition in town: Watching Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Auditorium Theatre, with Danny Elfman’s iconic score performed live alongside the classic stop-motion film by the Chicago Philharmonic! We hosted this event last year for the first time and had a blast with costume contests, trick-or-treating, and more. Costume contest winners last year —who won amazing prizes like theatre tickets and gift certificates at our partner restaurants — included a VERY convincing Edward Scissorhands and Kim Boggs; a Nightmare - themed Oogie Boogie complete with Lock, Shock, and Barrel in a tub close behind; a family dressed as the characters from Little Shop of Horrors ; and Betelgeuse, Lydia, and Adam Maitland from another Tim Burton classic, Beetlejuice . Trick-or-treaters were given treat bags upon entering the Auditorium and collected candy around the theatre. Theatre lobbies were decked out in Nightmare and Halloween- themed decorations, too! Guests also posed in front of an Auditorium Theatre backdrop with Nightmare props. And, of course, everyone had a blast watching the movie, with members of the Chicago Philharmonic dressed in their Halloween best as they performed the score and songs like “This Is Halloween” and “What’s This?” alongside Jack, Sally, Zero, and the residents of Halloween Town!
