Malpaso Dance Company in Robyn Mineko Williams' Elemental Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah CHERYL MANN CHERYL MANN of Daniel Duell. She is now the co-director of Chicago Ballet Arts and teaches at the Lou Conte Dance Studio. The couple also has a philanthropic dedication that is rare to come by. The Auditorium has been lucky to have their support since the early 1980s. Eventually, Charlie became a board member and served as Chairman of the Board from 2016-2018. Patti and Charlie have sponsored countless performances and productions including Miami City Ballet, Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah , and The Royal Ballet, to name a few. Their most recent involvement was co-sponsoring the commission of Elemental , a new work choreographed by Robyn Mineko Williams for Malpaso Dance Company, which premiered on the Auditorium stage in March 2019. Their decades-long commitment to the arts extends far beyond the Auditorium’s walls. As they continue to support and sponsor projects, events, and causes throughout the city, Charlie and Patti serve on an extensive array of boards. Charlie is a former member of the Illinois Gaming Board and the Metropolitan Pier. He currently sits on the boards of the Civic Federation and Exposition Authority, and serves as an Emeritus Director to the Auditorium Theatre Board of Directors. Charlie is a Life Trustee of Northwestern Medicine, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and Roosevelt University. Similarly, Patti sits on the boards of The Joµrey Ballet, Chicago Dancers United, and See Chicago Dance. She is the immediate past president of The Joµrey Ballet Women’s Board. It is undeniable that Patti and Charlie are both exceptional advocates and ambassadors for numerous Chicago arts and culture organizations. It is for their incomparable generosity to the Auditorium Theatre and unwavering commitment to the arts that we are proud to present Patti Eylar and Charlie Gardner with the Adler & Sullivan Award on November 16 as part of the Auditorium’s Annual Fall Gala.
