Apply these ideas to your work through weekly class projects. Display your photographic vision through a portfolio created during the workshop. This course is designed for intermediate photographers. Each week, you will learn ways to include each of these elements. Each class is devoted to one of the elements in depth. FPC fundamental course, nature and landscape track Jack Carlson, certified professional photographer $299/$374 | Plant Science Lab, Regenstein Center 5 Mondays, March 9 – April 6, 9 a.m. – noon Personal Storytelling Using Symbols & Metaphors Define your style and clarify your artistic vision by taking a journey of self-discovery in photography leading to an exhibition-worthy portfolio. Through writing, creativity exercises, and feedback sessions, you will produce a body of work reflecting your inner emotions and thoughts using symbols and metaphors. You will be encouraged to follow your own goals from documentary to abstract photogra- phy. Advanced-level proficiency or consent of instructor required. FPC requirement, master track Dianne Kittle, fine art photographer $399/$499 | Classroom 4, Learning Center 7 Tuesdays, March 10 – April 28, 1 – 4 p.m. (no class March 24) Advanced Abstract Photography Designed for the advanced photographer who wants to create a fine art portfolio, this class will walk you through the evolution of abstract photography. Trace and study the art of ab- stract nature photography with projects based on art movements such as impressionism, expressionism, cubism, surrealism, dadaism, and minimalism. Study the works of Man Ray, Minor White, and others from the history of photography. The School’s CEUs=21 hours FPC elective, master track Dianne Kittle, fine art photographer $399/$499 | Design Studio, Regenstein Center 7 Thursdays, March 12 – April 30, 1 – 4 p.m. (no class March 26) Photoshop 2 This advanced class will further your knowl- edge of selections and layers, allowing for photo enhancement and manipulation. Projects include black and white with color accents, old photo restoration, and abstract art creation. Requirements for the course are a laptop computer with a current version of Adobe Pho- toshop installed and a digital camera. Prerequi- site: Photoshop 1 or approval of instructor. This class is project oriented and will take your Pho- toshop knowledge to the next step. You will get deeper into layers, layer masking, channels, and blend modes. In this introduction to fine art photography for begin- ning and intermediate photographers, you will learn to use the features of your camera and the principles of design to make stunning, cre- ative images. A digital SLR or mirrorless camera with manual controls for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and a previous photography class or familiarity with basic camera functions are required.
