Make Your Own Butter and Pancakes Your next homemade breakfast won’t be the same after you learn how fun and easy it is to make your own butter. What better way to enjoy your butter than by spreading it onto delicious buttermilk pancakes? Participants will learn about the plants used to make breakfast and take home recipes to replicate this delectable feast at home. Sunday, February 23, or Saturday, February 29 Pizza Party Pizza has lots of ingredients from the garden—tomatoes, wheat, herbs, and all vegetables. Learn how these plants grow and how they are used to make pizza. Participants will plant their own herb garden to take home. Sunday, March 8, or Saturday, March 21 Homemade Granola Participants will make personalized oven- baked granola and a no-bake granola treat. Create a yogurt parfait to sample the tasty creation in class. This class is nut-free. Saturday, March 28 Nature Nights New! Snow Science Ages 4 – 10 with an adult Bundle up for this favorite summer program, now happening in winter. Children ages 4 to 10 and their adult will explore the Garden after hours to uncover the mysteries of nature at night. Program includes an outdoor hike, planting project, and hot cocoa treat. $19/$24 per child | Learning Campus Saturday, February 1 4 – 5:30 p.m. New! Family Gardeners Ages 6 – 10 with an adult Join us once a month and learn how to start a garden in your own yard. Chicago Botanic Garden experts will teach you to plan your garden, select the right plants, start your seeds, and prepare a garden plot. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes tour of our Robert F. Finke Production Greenhouses, earn a junior gardener certificate, and take home ten plants for their new garden. $96/$120 per child | Learning Campus Sundays: 3/1, 4/5, 5/3, 6/7 10 – 11:30 a.m. Free Family Programs New! Winter Warm-up Station Come into the Learning Center this winter to warm up with books and puzzles in the Astellas Atrium. Family Drop-ins Ages 2 – 5 with an adult Explore the wonders of the season with snow sensory play, evergreen exploration, and igloo-building fun. At 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., listen to a story and then pull on your boots for a guided nature walk. Free | Astellas Atrium, Learning Center Tuesdays, November 5 – December 17 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. New! Gifts from the Garden Drop in for a craft workshop where you can prepare for the season of giving. Make cards for loved ones, decorate your own wrapping paper, create an evergreen swag, and take a wintry family photo. Free | Burnstein Hall, Regenstein Center Sunday, December 15 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. New! Nature Play Dates Watch social media for announcements about outdoor pop-up activities at the Garden. Stop by the Lenhardt Library each week, January through March, for nature-themed stories, and hands-on activities. Registration is not required. Ages 2 – 5 with an adult Free | Lenhardt Library, Regenstein Center Wednesdays, January 22 – March 25 10 – 11 a.m. Birthday Parties Celebrate your child’s birthday with a garden-themed party held at our inspiring Regenstein Learning Campus. All parties include free parking for you and your guests and allow use of a reserved indoor space in the Learning Center for 90 minutes. Project Parties and Pizza Parties, for children turning 4 and up, also include educational, hands-on activities led by Garden staff.
