Spring highlights Night Lights—A Pop-Up Luminary Event Coming spring 2020 Look for times and dates to be announced soon; this event is weather dependent. This event is back by popular demand—because spring evenings were made to be luminous. More than 3,000 luminaries light the night, in patterns and shapes that you can walk past and take in from strategic vistas. Everything changes in the flicker of candlelight, from the shimmer of the lakes to the scent of spring blooms. April highlights Opens April 17 Rare Book Exhibition: Picturing the Prairie in Primary Sources Noon to 4 p.m., Wednesdays to Sundays. Science Festival Saturday & Sunday, April 18 & 19 The family-friendly Science Festival celebrates hands-on, up-close science from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join our scientists, horticulturists, science educators, and other experts for experiments, activities, dem- onstrations, special events, and more. Science After Hours—offering themed cocktails and light bites for purchase—is Friday, April 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. Get your tickets for Science After Hours early; this event sold out last year. May highlights Picturing the Prairie May 8 – September 20 This program celebrates prairies, including the Gar- den’s Dixon Prairie, prairie conservation, restoration, and stewardship. Picturing the Prairie: Paintings by Philip Juras in Joutras Gallery serves as the anchor. Juras’s landscape paintings celebrate the rich aes- thetics, ecology, and history of Illinois prairies. Look for horticultural elements, After Hours Buzz cocktail and learning events, interpretive programs and more this summer. Explore other Picturing the Prairie events and exhibitions with the Bobolink Foundation, Forest Preserves of Cook County, the Field Museum, the Nature Conservancy, and Openlands.
