Recent breeding work has increased the number of useful, appealing cultivars. Many distinctive, less-commonly known small-flowered species and hybrids extend the flowering season. Learn the identification, culture, and maintenance requirements of clematis. Acquire solid gardening skills, learn a variety of techniques, and determine best management practices in the field of horticulture. Gain applicable skills in plant selection, perennial and annual care and maintenance, pruning techniques, tool maintenance, and identification and control of common weeds. Dress for the weather. Learn about common landscape pests, pest identification, and monitoring and management techniques. We will cover site assessment, soil testing, fertilization, and understanding pesticides. You will learn identification techniques, ornamental qualities, and cultural traits of nearly 60 ground covers and vines. Plants studied will include the common English ivy and vinca as well as less- er-known cultivars of clematis and coral-bells.
