THE CHICAGO PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY | SPRING 2019 21 2018 2019 SEASON: AT CITY WINERY Injoo Choi, violin , an active performer and a teacher, has toured Asia and Europe over the years and continues to perform as a substitute of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Injoo Choi performs with the Chicago Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW and the Grant Park Music Festival. In addition, she has been an active chamber musician and has performed in Central America, US and Canada. Her collaborations are with Earl Carlyss, Ik-Hwan Bae, and Paul Coletti. She also performs frequently with her husband, Sunghoon Mo, as a violin-piano duo. She has been heard on NPR’s Performance Today. Her teachers include Sylvia Rosenberg, Miriam Fried, Josef Gingold, Yuval Yaron, and Myron Kartman. She received her Bachelor of Music at the Indiana University and the Master’s Degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Injoo Choi is a faculty member at the Music Institute of Chicago. Rose Armbrust Gri n, viola , received her Bachelor of Music from e Juilliard School, Artist Diploma fromthe Curtis Institute ofMusic andMaster ofMusic from Indiana University. Rose is currently a member of the Chicago Philharmonic and the Lake Forest Symphony and has performed as soloist with the Bogota Symphony Orchestra, Woodstock’s Mozart Festival Orchestra, e Curtis Chamber Orchestra and the Indiana University’s Chamber Orchestra. Rose’s chamber music performances include concerts at e Kennedy Center, Avery Fischer Hall, and Ravinia’s Steans Institute. She has been a guest artist at e North Shore Music and the Kingston Chamber Music Festivals and has performed with e Chicago Ensemble, e Jupiter Chamber Players, e Pilgrim Chamber Players, e Chicago Chamber Musicians, e Rembrandt Chamber Players and the MusicNOW series. Currently, she is an active member of the International Chamber Artists. Paula Kosower, cello , is an active performer and teacher currently residing in Chicago. She frequently performs for the Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Music series, the University of Illinois Tuesdays-at- One Series, North Park University Faculty Concerts, Bach Week Festival Concerts, for events at the Music Institute of Chicago, and for live performances on WFMT 98.7. She enjoys contemporary music and has played consistently for the Fulcrum Point New Music Project. In addition to recital and chamber music performances Ms. Kosower regularly performs as a cello substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She has served in the cello section for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Ms. Kosower completed her B.M. and M.M. degrees at Indiana University and her D.M. degree at Northwestern University, where she studied with Hans Jorgen-Jensen and during this time also served as principal cello of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Sunghoon Mo, piano , received his DMA from Peabody Conservatory, MM and Performer’s Certi cate from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and BM from Eastman School of Music. He has performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and his concerts have taken him to Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Germany, Canada, and throughout America. Sunghoon has performed and given masterclasses at Sewanee Summer Music Festival and the National Conservatory of Music in Guatemala City. In Chicago, he has performed guest solo recitals at DePaul University, University of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music Series, and Bennett Gordon Hall Ravinia Festival. He is currently on the faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago and the Wheaton College Conservatory. Schumann and Turina’s works are two of the most exciting, elegant and exquisite in the piano repertoire: Schumann’s Romantic-era work is jubilant and passionate with rich melodies, and is one of the most loved, listened to and performed piano quartets. Turina’s quartet embodies the composer’s Spanish heritage and expressive colors of lyrical Spanish folk music.
