8 2021-2022 SEASON | THE CHICAGO PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY 2021-2022 SEASON Chicago Philharmonic HT VIRTUAL STAGE In June 2021, e Chicago Philharmonic Society teamed up with the Harris eater for Music and Dance to record free virtual concerts for the streaming platform "HT Virtual Stage." On June 5, we collaborated with multi-genre musical artist and social justice advocate Adrian Dunn for a performance of Redemption , a new collection of spirituals and gospel songs that re-imagine and modernize the genre’s historical roots, celebrate African American history, and honor victims of systemic injustice across the country. Joining Adrian Dunn and the full Chicago Philharmonic orchestra onstage were the Adrian Dunn Singers, an all-black professional vocal ensemble established in 2018. Also featured in this concert was young violin virtuoso Njioma Grevious, Juilliard student and 2016 White House performer, and Composer-in-Residence Marcus Norris’ Glory . e concert is available on HT Virtual Stage from June 29-August 27. On June 25, Chicago Philharmonic and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance collaborated for the rst time for an extravaganza of music and musicians from la isla del encanto . Emeritus Puerto Rico Symphony Conductor Roselín Pabón led the Chicago Philharmonic orchestra and vibrant Puerto Rican soloists, featuring the music of great Puerto Rican composers, including Rafael Hernández, Tito Henriquez, Jose Ignacio Quintón, Antonio Cabán Vales, and traditional Puerto Rican music. e concert, titled "San Juan to Chicago: Un Puente Musical" streams exclusively on HT Virtual Stage from August 17-October 15. "Redemption" and "San Juan to Chicago" were made possible by the Harris eater Creative Future Fund.
