From fringe and feathers to shades of nude and blush, here 10 of the biggest fashion trends from this year’s award season red carpets. 1. BLACK ACCENTS Black and white are a classic color combina- tion, so it’s no surprise that stars like Sarah Hyland from “Modern Family” are rocking it on the red carpet. The actress wore a Naeem Khan gown featuring a sparkly black bodice and white ballerina skirt at the Critic’s Choice Award. The contrast of black details, like lace or bows, on an otherwise all white gown is an ele- gant way to add some drama to your wedding day look. 2. BLUSHING BEAUTIES Shades of blush were on every red carpet this award’s season. Actresses Danai Guira and Saoirse Ronan both wore rose colored gowns at the Academy Awards. And, since blush is an increasingly popular color option for brides, you too can feel pretty in pink. 3. NATURAL NUDES Another trendy alternative color option: nude. Actress Gina Rodriguez positively glowed at the Oscars in Zuhair Murad, as did “Get Out” star Allison Williams in Armani Privé Couture, illustrating how versatile and sophisticated the tone can be. 4. FAIRYTALE BALLGOWNS Sometimes bigger is better. Just ask model Camila Alves who stunned at the Academy Awards in a layered Vivienne Westwood gown. So, if you want to make an entrance at your wedding, a ballgown silhouette is the way to go. 5. LOTS OF LACE All-over lace may seem old-fashioned in theory, but as Kate Bosworth proved at the Critic’s Choice Awards, it’s nothing but modern. The model and actress paired her Brock Collection dress with slicked back hair, a red lip and a dan- gly diamond earrings. 6. ART DECO DETAILS If your style swings more old school, consider channeling your inner flapper like Allison Wil- liams did at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The “Get Out” actress served up true Holly- wood glam in a fringed column gown with art deco details by Ralph & Russo that’s perfect for vintage-loving brides. 7. FEATHERY FROCKS Whether you opt for a few plumes or a full feather skirt like “Orange is the New Black” actress Jackie Cruz did at the SAG Awards, you’ll preen with pride in a wedding gown with feather details. 8. COLD SHOULDERS “Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss’s flirty and feminine Oscar look is a prime example how an off-the-shoulder neckline is a chic alter- native to strapless gowns. 9. DRAMATIC CAPES Want to make a statement with your wedding day look? Skip the train and add a cape like Tracee Ellis Ross did at the SAG Awards.
