THROUGHOUT the WINTER Wee Wanderer Wednesdays Join us for a special program for little naturalists. Children ages 2–6 w/adult. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis starting at 9:30 am. Wednesdays, Dec 4 & 18, Jan 8 & 22, Feb 5 & 19 • 10 am EVENING PROGRAMS* Registration required for all Evening Programs. Evening Owl Hike* Join us for a talk about these nocturnal hunters. Afterwards we’ll look for these unique predators on a .5-mile hike. Saturday, Dec 14 • 4:30 pm Friday, Dec 20 • 7 pm Wolf Moon Hike* Hike one of our trails under the January full moon. Friday, Jan 10 • 7 pm Stars & S’mores* View the constellations and hear their mythical tales while enjoying a treat around the campfire. Saturday, Jan 25 • 7 pm Snowshoes are available when snow is 4” or greater. Equipment is limited and loaned with no charge on a first come, first served basis. Driver’s license required. Snowshoes Date Night in the Starlight* Couples and friends celebrate Valentine’s Day with hors d’oeuvres, animal encounters, campfire treats and a candlelit hike. $5/person. Ages 18 & up. Friday, Feb 14 • 7 pm Starry Night* Join us along with the Northwest Suburban Astronomers as we scan the skies for celestial objects. Saturday, Feb 22 • 6 pm DECEMBER Winter Homes Where do animals go during winter? Learn about winter homes of animals, then go outside to build a shelter. Sunday, Dec 1 • 1 pm Where Did the Cold-blooded Creatures Go? Learn about strategies that native reptiles and amphibians use to survive Chicago winters. Indoor presentation, then a short outdoor hike. Sunday, Dec 8 • 1 pm 3 Stover Road, Barrington Hills, 847-381-6592 Building: 9 am–4 pm, closed Fridays, Grounds: 8 am–4 pm daily, Free Admission Building and Grounds closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day 14
