Sunday, Sept 25 • 1 pm OCTOBER Flyway Rest Stop Learn about some of our migratory birds, where they go, and how your yard can be a rest stop. Sunday, Oct 2 • 1 pm Ah, Nuts! Look out below! Plentiful tree nuts are falling. Hike to discover what seeds trees produce and why they are vital to the well- being of the woodlands. Sunday, Oct 9 • 1 pm Mammals on the Move Come learn about some of our different native mammal species and their autumn activities. Monday, Oct 10 • 1 pm Fall Habitat Hike Take a walk with a naturalist through Crabtree’s three habitats: prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Sunday, Oct 16 • 1 pm Bur and Color Blur Join us for a fast-paced 1.4-mile hike around Bur Edge to take in some fresh air and enjoy the fall color. Ages 18 & up. Saturday, Oct 22 • 1 pm Giant’s Hollow-ween Hunt Take a self-guided hike on our Giant’s Hollow trail to hunt for hidden Halloween clues to earn a treat. Sunday, Oct 30 • 10 am–3 pm NOVEMBER Prairie Builders Illinois wouldn’t have been the “Prairie State” without the thundering herds of Tatanka, or bison, which helped create the diversity found in prairie communities. Sunday, Nov 6 • 1 pm Prairie Pickin' Identify native plants by their seeds, then collect seeds that will be sown to help the prairie ourish. Wear long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes and work gloves. Sunday, Nov 13 • 1 pm Must See Mustelids We will look at a few members of the mustelid family that call Cook County home. Ages 6 & up.
