Search for birds’ nests while walking along an accessible, paved route. Field notes provided to help you out. Self-guided, family drop-in program. Saturday &Sunday,Sept 3&4 • 10 am–2 pm Singing Insects* Enjoy the chorus of singing insects. Learn how to conserve these nocturnal wonders. Thursday, Sept 8 • 7 pm Sweeping the Prairie* What kind of invertebrates can we nd in the prairie and why is it important to know? Sweep net through the prairie to nd out. Family program. Saturday, Sept 10 • 1 pm Conservation@Home: Name that Shrub* Wildlife depends on native shrubs. Learn to identify and how to incorporate native shrubs in your home landscape. Indoor talk followed by guided walk. Ages 14 & up. Sunday, Sept 11 • 1 pm Orienteering Part I: Beginner Compass Skills* Learn the basics of using a compass through different games. Ages 10 & up. Saturday, Sept 17 • 1 pm Dolomite Prairie Hike* Kick off Illinois Prairie Week with a hike through a dolomite prairie. Rough terrain, bring sunscreen. Ages 14 & up. Sunday, Sept 18 • 10 am Public Lands Day Give back to nature at Sagawau! Help improve the health of our Forest Preserves by removing litter or cutting invasive brush.
