Bird Walks Look for warblers and other migrants. Led by John Bates or Josh Engel from Evanston North Shore Bird Club. Park along Ewing Avenue. Thursdays in Sept • 7:30 am Perkins Woods, Ewing Avenue and Grant St, Evanston Bird the Preserves is a joint initiative of the Forest Preserves and various partners. The goal is to connect diverse communities to nature through birding programs and events. Look for birding programs listed on each nature center page or attend a partner-hosted event by zone. Illinois Young Birders Guided Walk* Young birders ages 9–18 are welcome to join a guided walk with IL Young Birders to explore the habitats at Eggers Grove and Burnham Prairie in search of fall migratory birds and other wildlife. Saturday, Sept 17 • 7 am Eggers Grove, E 112th St & S Ave E, Chicago You Can Help Migrating Birds Fall bird migration runs through mid-November. 100 million migrating birds are killed each year when they hit windows. To prevent bird collisions at your home and workplace, cover the outside of your windows with a screen or pattern of any shape.
