THROUGHOUT the SUMMER Story Trail Walk a short, looped trail and experience a story unfold with every step. A related craft will be available to take home after completing the story trail. Thursdays, June 9, July 7, Aug 11 10 am–1 pm Bemis Woods-South, Grove 7 Ogden Ave, west of Wolf Rd, Proviso Township JUNE Kayak the Salt Creek River Trail* Join us as we paddle over 8 miles of the Salt Creek River Trail from Bemis Woods to Plank Road Meadow. Instruction, sanitized equipment, kayaks and shuttle provided. Thursday, June 9 • 11:30 am Bemis Woods-North Canoe Landing, Wolf Rd, south of 31st St, Proviso Township Pond Paddle* Enjoy an afternoon out paddling. Instruction, sanitized equipment and kayaks provided. Wednesday, June 22 • 1–3 pm Thatcher Glen Pond–738 Thatcher Ave, River Forest Nature Obstacle Course Families, attempt an obstacle course created from natural materials. Other nature play, exploration and art activities available, too! Saturday, June 25 • Noon–3 pm Twenty-Sixth Street Woods-West, 26th St, east of S 25th Ave, La Grange Park JULY History & Photography Walk Grab your camera and learn the history of this unique site! Guided walk with stopping points to discuss history and snap pictures. Cameras not required. Register: tinyurl.com/portage3. Saturday, July 2 • 9 am Chicago Portage National Historic Site, S Harlem Ave, south of 47th St, Lyons Art in Nature Explore the symbolism between art in nature. Create land art, go on a haiku walk, and make tie dye using fruits and spices. Program held at Grove 1. Friday, July 8 • 5–7 pm National Grove-South, Groveland Ave, north of 31st St, North Riverside Forest Therapy Walk* Forest Therapy opens the gateway for creativity and a deepened relationship with self and the natural world. Led by certified Forest Therapy Guide, Kimberly Diaz Hay. Saturday, July 16 • 10 am Robinson Woods-South, Lawrence Ave, west of N East River Rd, Chicago Thatcher Ave, River Grove Insect Fest Go on a bug hunt, explore insects through dance and movement, follow the migratory patterns of monarch butterflies, and create your own insect!
