Stop by the bridge to see what the naturalist finds in its waters. Drop-in. Saturday, July 2 • 1–3 pm Bee Spotter Beeblitz* Help scientists learn more about bumble bees and introduced honeybees. Snap a picture and email it for community science. Ages 12 & up. Sunday, July 3 • 1 pm Butterfly Walk* Learn how to spot butterflies on a 1-mile trail walk. Friday, July 8 • 1 pm Monarchs Pop-Up* Learn about the monarch butterfly! Bring your questions and ask a naturalist about what plants support caterpillars and adult butterflies. Pop-Up is located outside with tables on paved surface. Tuesday, July 19 • 10 am Tree ID Hike* Hike with a naturalist to learn the features and characteristics used to identify trees along our trails. Ages 12 & up. Saturday, July 23 • 1 pm Morning Moths* Because moths are active at night, they often go unseen. Learn how to observe and identify these camouflaged beauties. Ages 12 & up. Sunday, July 24 • 9am Amazing Ants: Hidden Kingdoms Virtual, Facebook Live Ants are everywhere! Being small makes them hard to observe. Join us for a closer look at our local ants and survey Sagawau’s diversity. Tuesday, July 26 • 1 pm AUGUST Hummingbirds for Kids* Enjoy a hummingbird activity while watching hummingbirds in the Hummingbird Viewing Area. Thursdays, Aug 4, 11, 25 • 10 am Hummingbird Walk* Walk with a naturalist to see the different habitats used by hummingbirds to learn how they fit into the ecosystem. Ages 16 & up. Saturday, Aug 6 & Wednesday, Aug 24, 10 am Songs of Summer* Who is singing this afternoon? Enjoy the summer chorus of insects while learning how and why crickets, katydids, cicadas, and grasshoppers sing. Sunday, Aug 7 • 1 pm Sit & Sip Sit in the hummingbird garden and watch hummingbirds sip on their morning nectar. Naturalists will be available for Q & A session. Ages 10 & up Wednesday, Aug 10 • 9 am Hummingbird Chat* Learn about all things hummingbird from a naturalist as we view them from the Hummingbird Garden. Ages 16 & up Saturday, Aug 13 & Sunday, Aug 21 10–11 am Hummingbird Paint* Sit in the hummingbird garden and draw these avian marvels. Learn how to paint their iridescent colors.
