This summer, you’ll hear some of the most beloved music of all time along with
masterworks of today and tomorrow. Our line-up brings you extraordinary conductors
and soloists, a 100th anniversary performance of The Rite of Spring and a centenary
celebration of the birth of Benjamin Britten. Whether you’ve been coming to the
Festival for years, or you’re seeing the Grant Park Orchestra for the first time, I know
you’ll agree that the music never sounds better than it does at the state-of-the-art Jay
Pritzker Pavilion.
You won’t want to miss two special concerts when Chorus Director Christopher Bell
and the Grant Park Chorus come out to the neighborhoods. Mark your calendars for
Songs of Praise and Passion on July 30 at the South Shore Cultural Center and August
1
at the Columbus Park Refectory.
These ten weeks of free concerts would not be possible without the generous support
of our long-standing partners—the Chicago Park District and the ChicagoDepartment
of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. They, along with our many foundation and
corporate donors, and thousands of Festival members and contributors help us to
present a season of extraordinary music and stunning performances each year.
Our thanks to you for joining us tonight. Enjoy the concert and we hope to see you
all summer long.
Warm regards,
Carlos Kalmar
