46 FIELD TRIPS We have everything you need for a successful eld trip for children up to age 8. With 17 hands-on exhibits to explore, your group is sure to nd plenty to investigate and discover during their visit. The engaging, developmentally appropriate and hands-on environment allows children to discover that Kohl Children’s Museum is not just any museum. It’s their museum! Our educational programs are designed to: • Align with Common Core Standards, Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, or National Core Arts Standards. • Engage children in the process of learning through the use of concrete, real, and relevant materials • Enhance physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains • Provide opportunities for children to use their imaginations and creativity SELF GUIDED FIELD TRIPS These trips encourage children to explore the Museum at their own pace. All Museum exhibits include elements appropriate for the developmental needs of children from birth to age 8. Self-Guided Field Trips Include: • 15-minute orientation • 1½ hours to explore the interactive, hands-on exhibits • Option to utilize lunch room for ½ hour (must be reserved in advance) FOCUSED FIELD TRIPS These trips provide hands-on learning experiences that expand on concepts integrated into the Museum exhibits. These are designed to meet the developmental needs of young children up to age 8. Focused Field Trips Include: • 15-minute orientation • 45-minute guided workshop conducted by a Museum Educator • 45 minutes of Museum exploration • Pre- and post-visit extension materials • Option to utilize lunch room for ½ hour (must be reserved in advance) IN SCHOOL MUSEUM EXPERIENCES Kohl Children’s Museum can bring a eld trip experience to your school, center, or home! A Museum educator will conduct any of our fourteen focused eld trips at your site.
