6 WELCOME Dear Friends, It is with great pride that I welcome you to a day of play and learning at Kohl Children’s Museum! Our museum exists because of one simple philosophy: We value the role of play in a child’s life. We understand that children use play to explore, discover, and understand the world around them. They thrive as active learners, and so we have created an environment that is child-led and child-empowered. When children are young, their natural curiosity and imagination will help set the patterns of learning for the rest of their lives. By igniting a passion for learning that will last a lifetime, we can create positive change in the life of a young child. Here at the Museum, we focus on what we do best – providing quality learning opportunities for young children and supporting parents in their critical role as their child’s first and most important teacher. I am privileged to take the vision that Dolores Kohl nurtured when she founded the Museum nearly 35 years ago and strategically positioned us to become a steady and respected community resource for families throughout the Chicago area.
