39 CALENDAR OF EVENTS Science Sleuths let children become lab detectives as they study evidence, make predictions, and test their hypotheses with the guidance of a Museum educator or local professional. Programming takes place approximately every other Wednesday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Jul 3, 17 & 31: CloudWatching Look up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane… it’s a monkey? This month we’ll be cloud watching in Habitat Park and learning about types of clouds and what they mean. Aug 14 & 28: Bats! Did you know there are at least 12 species of bats found throughout Illinois? Join us as we explore our nighttime, bug-eating friends and how they help us. Sep 11 & 25: Land Survey Before a building, park, or road is constructed, a survey of the land is completed by engineers and architects to make sure it’s a good place to build. Become part of the crew as we survey Habitat Park for the best place to construct. Math Counts introduces children to the wonderful worth of math in a fun, informative way. Enjoy a special storytime before engaging in fun activities that deal with the basic building blocks of math: sets and patterns, counting, numerosity, geometry – even algebraic thinking! Programming takes place approximately every other Friday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Jul 5 & 19 : BuildYour Own Shape Discover the basics of geometry and all the shapes can you make using Legos, straws and so much more. Aug 2, 16 & 30: Insect Counts Come on a bug hunt! Count and measure the different bugs and other creatures we find outside. Sep 13 & 27: Block Counts Explore the stages of block play by going through different building challenges. SCIENCE SLEUTHS MATH COUNTS
