Kohl Children's Musuem Guide 2019 Summer
40 CALENDAR OF EVENTS Calling all junior chefs! Join us at Kohl Children’s Museum for our Kitchen Creations program featuring farm-to- table food preparation and nutritious eating. Twice a month we will use a variety of ingredients and transform them into healthy snacks, salads, and more! Kitchen Creations will occur approximately every other Tuesday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Jul 2, 16 & 30: Shape Your Food Cut and chop different fruits and veggies into your favorite shapes. Aug 13 & 27: Bugs on a Log Make the Museum version of the classic snack with celery sticks, dried fruit, and nut- free butter. Be careful they don’t crawl away! Sep 10 & 24: Graham Cracker Houses Think like an engineer and construct your own graham cracker house. Add your decorating flair with sweet fruit and delicious chocolate chips. The Museum’s Tinkering Tuesday program encourages children to do what they do best - let their curiosity take over! Explore the world of engineering by building machines and creating processes, and then explore what happens when you make changes or do things differently. Programming takes place approximately every other Tuesday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on the Museum’s STEAM Cart at announced locations in the Museum exhibits. Jul 9 & 23: Which Shape is the Strongest? Figure out which 3D shape is the strongest by building a tall tower with cube, pyramid, and cylinder shapes in this engineering challenge. Aug 6 & 20: Build Your Own Bird Feeder Build a birdfeeder and fill it with seeds and berries for the birds in our neighborhood. Sep 3 & 17: Construction and Tools Put your construction hats on and tinker with child-safe tools in this engineering activity. Programming underwritten by TINKERING TUESDAYS KITCHEN CREATIONS
