Kohl Children's Musuem Guide 2019 Summer

42 CALENDAR OF EVENTS It’s time to let your inner actor out with Theatre Games . Through a variety of creative dramatic exercises, we will explore gross and fine motor skills, problem solving, listening and speaking skills, following directions, and building confidence. Theater Games takes place Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Theatre programming has been underwritten in part by the Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust. Jul 11: Follow the Leader Atten-tion! Today we will follow our leader. When they walk, we walk. When they jump, we jump. When they wiggle, we wiggle. That is until it’s time for the next leader. Join us, as we take turns copying each other being as silly as we can. Jul 18 & 25: Dice Story Emotions are hard for us actors. Fortunately, we have dice to tell us how to feel. A new puppy. The dice say we’re sad. It’s raining outside. The dice say we’re hungry. Roll for emotions to see how you feel about our theatre game! Aug 1 & 8: Imagination Station When is a banana not a banana? When it’s a boomerang! Or a baby! Or a boomerang baby! We’ll use our imagination to turn items into all sorts of weird and wonderful objects. Aug 15, 22, & 29: Half a Play Oh no! I was supposed to write a play for Theatre Games and I totally forgot! Can you help me fill in the blanks and then perform what we come up with? Sep 5 & 12: Do Re You! In theatre, we can’t just warm up our bodies, we also have to warm up our voices! Breathe in, breathe out. Hiss like a snake for as loooooooong as you can. Stretch your voice up high and way down low as we explore all the sounds we can make with our mouths. Sep 19 & 26: Telephone How well can we listen? Can we pass a phrase around the circle? What about an action? See how what we say and do can change as it goes from person to person in this fun theatre game. THEATRE GAMES
