Kohl Children's Musuem Guide 2019 Winter

10 Kohl Children’s Museum is one of the oldest and most respected children’s museums in the nation, having been founded by Dolores Kohl in 1985 on the success of its predecessor, the Kohl Teaching Center, a pioneer resource for thousands of educators since 1973. It is one of the very few museums in the country—and the only one in the Midwest—that has always focused on early childhood and the fundamental, critically important time from birth to age 8 when the brain constructs the connections, or synapses, that set patterns for a child’s future learning. Throughout its history, Kohl Children’s Museum has served as a crossroads for children and families, teachers, students, and caregivers from a variety of diverse backgrounds who join together to experience enrichment activities all founded on children’s love of play, unlimited imagination, and unbounded curiosity. The Museum provides a world-class venue in Glenview where children can play, explore and learn in an environment built speci cally for them. In addition, the Kohl Children’s Pop-Up Museum, started in 2018, takes high-end exhibits and programs directly to communities in need in Lake County, all at no charge. This is one more step in achieving our vision of providing playful experiences that inspire every child. We invite you to become a contributor today and join the rich history of Kohl Children’s Museum. HISTORY
