Lyric Opera of Chicago is tremendously proud that Ryan Opera Center alumni – bass Patrick Guetti (representing the U. S.), tenor Mingjie Lei (representing China), and bass-baritone Richard Ollarsaba (representing the U. S.) – have been selected as three of the 20 competitors in the BBC Cardiƒ Singer of the World competition, taking place in Cardiƒ, Wales in June 2019. Lyric is equally proud that two current members of the Ryan Opera Center, American contralto Lauren Decker and Mexican tenor Mario Rojas, have been selected to participate in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition, taking place in Prague in July 2019.
