We hope that you’ll nd this brilliantly reimagined production, inspired by the silent lms of the 1920s, a witty and delightful way to experience a timeless opera. As we work to ensure opera’s vibrant future, creative exploration of our art form has never been more important. This season, Lyric brings you three works that we have never performed before: Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas , Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up , and Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones . All of our other productions are either entirely new or new to Chicago. Future seasons also will include newworks from an exciting variety of voices telling important, contemporary stories. Innovation is a Lyric hallmark that reaches beyond our stage and can be seen throughout the company.
