Lyric Opera of Chicago | 66 On the evening of August 20th, members of the 2023/24 Ensemble of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center made a glorious public debut at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park with Sunday in the Park with Lyric , a highlight of Chicago’s summer arts calendar. Featuring selections from all the operas coming up in the new season and performed with the Lyric Opera Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Enrique Mazzola, the concert was just one landmark moment on the journey of these talented emerging professionals as they embark on their international careers. From Final Auditions in front of a live audience at the opera house last September, the Ryan Opera Center invited four new singers (selected frommore than 500 applicants) to join the returning eight. The 23/24 roster was completed with a new pianist as well as a returning conductor/ pianist, a stage director, and a stage manager. The Ensemble members began their tenure in May 2023, receiving advanced instruction in every aspect of operatic performance, and they will participate extensively in Lyric’s mainstage season.
