I arrived right out of college and worked with some of the best coaches in the world. I had master classes with my personal heroes and got to perform with titans of the field like Renée Fleming, Samuel Ramey, Bryn Terfel, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The absolute highlight of my tenure was completely unexpected: I was understudying the title role in Le nozze di Figaro . At the opening night, I was pulled out of the audience and asked to sing the final two acts in place of an ailing colleague. It was scary, exciting, and thrilling all at once! A couple of days later, I was asked to take over for the remaining ten performances.
