5 | Lyric Opera of Chicago Sir Andrew Davis CBE (February 2, 1944 - April 20, 2024) These performances of The Marriage of Figaro are dedicated to the memory of Sir Andrew Davis, Lyric Opera of Chicago’s music director and principal conductor from 2000 to 2021. Beginning with his Lyric debut in 1987 leading a new production of The Marriage of Figaro , Sir Andrew went on to conduct a vast repertoire here, including nearly 700 performances of 62 operas by 22 different composers. The entire Lyric Opera of Chicago family wishes to express its enduring gratitude for Sir Andrew’s extraordinary contributions to the life of the company. A concert celebrating Sir Andrew’s legacy is planned for February 15, 2025. In Tribute
