What can science tell us about art? The Loyola University Museum of Art
(LUMA) turned to science to learn more about an enigmatic, eighteenth-
century, Spanish portrait of a Jesuit saint. Analyzed by a scientist at
McCrone Associates of Westmont, Illinois, the painting was x-rayed,
photographed under infra-red and ultra-violet light, and its pigments
sampled by microscope. LUMA Curator Jonathan Canning will interpret
the scientific findings for you in an eye-opening lecture. Learn more about
LUMA at luc.edu/luma.
