e journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step; the journey of Sanjay R Singhal, as
an architect and interior designer, began with a thousand miles. From his childhood in In-
dia, Sanjay has travelled the world, experiencing cultures and civilisations as diverse as a farm
in South Dakota, the suburbs of Chicago, Paris, London and Rome, and, most recently, the
resort towns and forests of northern Michigan.
Sanjay’s design philosophy and tastes reflect his sensitivities, trained and enhanced by his
travels and his experiences around the world and across the United States; his keen, certain
handling of space, form, colour, and texture are brought vividly to life in his clients’ homes
and offices. Here, for the 2013 Fair, Sanjay has successfully combined the best examples of
contemporary design and period antique accessories to create a lounge both welcoming and
inviting.
