66 RAVINIA MAGAZINE | MAY 31, 2019 – JUNE 16, 2019 Before the summer concert season begins, Ravinia hosts two major events that raise funds for the festival’s Reach Teach Play education programs: the Ravinia Associates Board’s Music Matters benefit and the Ravinia Board of Trustees’ Magic of Music benefit. Music Matters was held at the Marriott Marquis Chicago on May 11. The evening included cocktails, live music, dinner, an auction, and a special tribute to Sir James Galway in honor of his dedication to music education through both his own programs, the Galway Flute Academy and the online series First Flute, and sessions with Ravinia’s Reach Teach Play programs. Magic of Music was held on May 20 at Exmoor Country Club and featured a new tennis benefit in addition to the longtime golf benefit.
