KARIM SULAYMAN Lebanese American ten- or Karim Sulayman has garnered international attention as a sophisti- cated and versatile artist, regularly performing on the world’s stages in or- chestral concerts and opera, as well as in recital and chamber music. In addition to his return to Ravinia, highlights this season include his debuts at Stockholm’s Drottningholms Slottsteater, Flo- rentine Opera, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, and Venice’s Teatro Goldoni. Last season marked de- buts with the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Other recent engagements include Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, Houston Grand Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, andNewYork CityOpera. His grow- ing discography includes his debut solo album, Songs of Orpheus , which was released to interna- tional acclaim on the Avie label. At IU, Weiss most recently sang the title role of Mason Bates’s The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs , as well as in West Side Story (Action), L’étoile (Tapioca), Handel’s Rodelinda (Garibaldo), andDon Freund’s Romeo and Juliet (Romeo). This springWeiss earned the Carolyn Weber Award at the Lotte Lenya Com- petition, having spent summer 2018 as a Young Artist at the Aspen Music Festival. Other recent credits include The Good Swimmer (Head Life- guard) at BAM, Di Goldene Kale (Berke) with the National Yiddish Theater Off-Broadway, Belli’s Orfeo Dolente (Orfeo), Cavalli’s Erismena (Erimante), Oklahoma! Weiss also graduated fromYale University with a double major in humanities and theater studies. jeremyweissperformer.com WYATT PARR A Chicago native, Wyatt Parr has been singing with Chicago Children’s Choir since September 2016 and currently sings in the Lincoln Park/ DePaul Neighborhood Choir. In June 2017, he sang the boy soprano solo in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with CCC at its annual Paint the Town Red event at Millennium Park. Parr has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in its productions of Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s Turandot and La bohème as a member of the children’s chorus. Last summer at Ravinia, Parr reprised his Chichester Psalms solo with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and was an Altar Child in Bernstein’s Mass . This past spring he played Reuben in Sacred Heart School’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat . MYRA SAHAI Myra Sahai has been a member of Chicago Children’s Choir for three years and current- ly sings in the Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighbor- hood Choir. Last fall she performed with the Lyric Opera of Chica- go in the children’s chorus for its production of Puccini’s La bohème , and she will be returning to Ravinia next week with CCC for Mahler’s Eighth Symphony. Outside of singing, Sahai is an emerging origami enthusiast and is a talent- ed pianist, having performed at several musical festivals at Northwestern University. VOCALITY Vocality is a festival chorus comprising alum- ni and current members of Chicago Children’s Choir as well as young vocal artists from a wide array of communities within and surrounding the city of Chicago. Founded in 2015 by Jose- phine Lee, president and artistic director of Chi- cago Children’s Choir, Vocality strives to exem- plify the highest level of choral singing with an emphasis on excellence and diversity among its membership. The chorus gave its inaugural per- formance at Ravinia, appearing with the Chica- go Symphony Orchestra and conductor Bobby McFerrin in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess .
