SEAN O’LOUGHLIN, conductor Growing up in Syracuse, NY, Sean O’Loughlin began preparing for a career in music from an early age. He became a composition student at Syracuse University, where he was guided by Larry Clark, vice-president of Carl Fischer Music. O’Loughlin earned a bachelor’s degree at Syracuse, later completing graduate studies at the New England Conservatory. He was also a composition fellow at the Henry Mancini In- stitute in Los Angeles, and has since become a frequent ASCAP Special Awards winner for his music published with Carl Fischer and Hal Leonard. Regularly commissioned for both or- chestral and wind-band literature, O’Lough- lin has written works for the Boston Pops, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He has appeared as a conductor with each of those ensembles, as well as the San Francisco and Seattle Symphonies, Minneso- ta Orchestra, and Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, and Vancouver Symphony Orches- tras, among others. O’Loughlin is the principal pops conductor of the orchestra Symphoria, and he recently took up the same mantle with the Victoria Symphony in Canada. He has been a conductor and arranger for international tours by Sarah McLachlan and Josh Groban, as well as the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration and Cheap Trick’s Sgt. Pepper Live in Las Vegas, and he has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning Amer- ica with Groban and NBC’s “A Very Pentatonix Christmas.” O’Loughlin has also collaborated on projects with Adele, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Diana Ross, Journey, Melissa Etheridge, Blue Man Group, Janelle Monáe, Au- dra McDonald, Hall and Oates, Gloria Estefan, the Indigo Girls, Diana Krall, Itzhak Perlman, Natalie Merchant, Chris Isaak, Pink Martini, Brandi Carlile, The Decemberists, Martina Mc- Bride, Josh Ritter, and Gloria Gaynor, among other artists.
