HALEY REINHART A native of nearby Wheeling, IL, Haley Rein- hart began honing her vocal chops at age 7 with her parents’ cover band, Midnight. Shortly after graduating high school, she made it through auditions for the 10th season of American Idol , finishing third in the competition. Her perfor- mances of Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets” and “House of the Rising Sun” proved among the most popular in the history of the show, ranked highly on multiple retrospective lists when the original series concluded in 2016. Reinhart earned a recording contract with In- terscope Records in 2011 on the strength of her Idol showing, and her debut album, Listen Up! , was released in 2012. The disc soared to number 17 on Billboard ’s Hot 100, and its single, “Free,” cracked into the Adult Top 40. After cutting a new single, “Show Me Your Moves,” in 2014 with plans to release an EP, Reinhart teamed up with the jazz-age-styled covers band Postmodern Jukebox and spent most of 2015 recording and performing with the group. After takes on the contemporary hits “Habits” (Tove Lo) and “All About That Bass” (Meghan Trainor), she scored her biggest success with Postmodern Jukebox in a rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep,” which held the top spot on Billboard ’s digital jazz chart for several weeks. She subsequently covered The Cardigans’ “Lovefool,” Britney Spears’s “Oops! … I Did It Again,” and The White Stripes’ “Sev- en Nation Army” with the group. Later in 2015, Reinhart found further fame when her cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was used in an Extra Gum commercial and earned her a gold record. The track would be featured on her second album, Better (2016), an expan- sion of her earlier planned EP. She followed up with an album of late-’60s covers, What’s That Sound? , on Concord Records in 2017, as well as a pure jazz single, “Last Kiss Goodbye,” in 2018, the same year she added her voice to Jeff Goldblum’s number-one jazz album, including on “My Baby Just Cares for Me.” Her latest disc, Lo-Fi Soul , was released earlier this year.
