Greilsammer’s groundbreaking musical projects range from early Baroque to contemporary repertoire, and he has received particular acclaim for his Mo- zart performances, such as a one-day marathon of the composer’s complete piano sonatas in Paris and conducting all 27 of Mozart’s piano concertos from the keyboard in a single concert season. Greilsammer has recently been a guest conductor and soloist with such ensembles as the BBC and Radio France Philharmonics, San Francisco Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Israel Sym- phony Orchestra, Mexican National Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, Tokyo Metro- politan Symphony, and Milan’s Verdi Orches- tra. His concertizing has also included perfor- mances at London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet, the Verbier Festival, New York’s Mostly Mozart Fes- tival, the Kennedy Center, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and Beijing’s Forbidden City Hall, among other venues. Since 2013, Greilsammer has been the artistic and music director of the Geneva Camerata, with which he has performed on numerous inter- national tours and has collaborated with some of today’s top soloists, opera singers, jazz musi- cians, choreographers, and actors. The ensemble recently released Sounds of Transformation on Sony Classical, an album presenting a musical journey from Baroque to jazz. Greilsammer is an exclusive Sony Classical artist and has created four critically acclaimed discs for the label, most recently an album featuring him playing and conducting Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with the Geneva Camerata. He has also recorded sev- eral albums on the Naïve label that have received an array of prizes and other distinctions. David Greilsammer made his Ravinia debut in 2012 and is making his first return to the festival. OCTOBER 5, 2019 – MAY 9, 2020 | RAVINIA MAGAZINE 89 ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES OCTOBER 5, 2019
