She is currently working on a new symphonic album comprising half Broadway and half classical popular songs. Marie Osmond is making her Ravinia debut. DAVID ARCHULETA At just 16 years old in 2008, David Archule- ta became a star when more than 30 million television viewers fell in love with his voice and made him runner-up in the seventh sea- son of American Idol . His first single, “Crush,” debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, eventually going double platinum as a top-selling digital track, with his debut, eponymous album similarly reaching num- ber two and achieving gold-level sales. After a couple more hit solo albums— Christmas from the Heart (2009) and The Other Side Down (2010)—and featured-guest perfor- mances on The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s 2011 holiday album Glad Christmas Tidings , as well as a star turn in a miniseries in the Philippines, Archuleta—a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints— put his singing career on hiatus so he could serve a two-year stint as a missionary outside of Santiago, Chile. Since his return to music in 2014, he has been releasing music under his own indie label, Archie Music, including Postcards in the Sky (2017) and the holiday al- bum Winter in the Air (2018). Regularly sell- ing out two domestic tours a year and with a total of nine studio albums under his belt, Archuleta now resides in Nashville, where he regularly collaborates with other songwrit- ers and musicians. His most recent album, Therapy Sessions (2020)—earning particular notice in Billboard magazine for its human vulnerability—narrates his lifelong struggle with mental health. “Whether it was fear, loss, dwelling on the past, or anxiety. There’s a constant battle going on because so much of my mind doesn’t want to budge. The songs are a sort of a back and forth within the inner dialogue I have with myself,” says Archuleta. David Archuleta is making his Ravinia debut. RAVINIA MAGAZINE • AUGUST 18 – SEPTEMBER 6, 2021 44
