CHICAGO PHILHARMONIC The Chicago Philharmonic Society is a collaboration of nearly 200 of the highest-level classical musicians performing in the Chicago metropolitan area. Governed under a structure of musician leadership, the society presents concerts at venues throughout the Chicago area that cover the full spectrum of symphonic music. The society’s orchestra, known simply as the Chicago Philhar- monic, has been called one of the country’s finest symphonic orchestras, and its unique chamber music ensembles, which perform as Chicago Phil Chamber, draw from its vast pool of versatile musicians. The society’s community engagement programs connect Chicago-area youth to clas- sical music by providing access to symphonic concerts, mentorship from Chicago Philharmonic musicians, and performance opportunities. Founded 32 years ago, the Chicago Philharmonic is known for providing symphonic support to international and national touring companies in all music genres, and it served as the official orchestra of The Joffrey Ballet for eight years. The Chica- go Philharmonic also continues its nearly 30-year association with Ravinia Festival, is a resident company of the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, and performs at all the great concert halls of the Chicago and North Shore area, including AuditoriumTheatre and Symphony Center. The Illinois Council of Orchestras has awarded the Chicago Philharmonic with a range of honors, including Orchestra of the Year (2018), Programming of the Year (2019), Community Relations of the Year (2019), Executive Director of the Year (2020), and Conductor of the Year (2021). With top notices in Cabaret Scenes , the magazine of the Amer- ican Songbook Association, Menzie and Mi- chael have been featured on many of the most storied stages in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre. Based in Chicago, they have headlined concerts with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and the Danville and Racine Symphonies, among other ensembles, and they regularly appear at Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret, often with a brand-new show. Menzie and Michael have served as regional judges and mentors for the Michael Feinstein Initiative, which promotes the music of the Great American Songbook to high school students. Menzie also regularly leads master classes around the country and has been an artistic associate of Porchlight Music Theatre. An expert pianist and vocalist with a repertory ranging from sassy swing to smoky torch songs, Menzie is a three-time winner of After Dark Chicago ’s Outstanding Cabaret Artist honor as well as a Chicago Gold Coast Cabaret Award winner. Before their first official duo album—2006’s Better Two-Gether , which earned critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard , Backstage , Show Business Weekly , and Playbill —Michael cut two solo albums of his own, Sailing On (2000) and Written in the Stars (2003). He has since added Let Me Be Your Home (2011) to his discography, with Menzie guesting on three tracks, earning major praise from the Houston Chronicle .
