Margie and Chuck loved attending Ravinia, which they called “the most glorious music festival” and a “North Shore treasure.” The festival remains ever grateful for their long-standing patronage, and we are honored to recognize the August 3 Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert in their memory thanks to the incredibly generous support of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation in 2022. Her children worked with the board and with her when the board started the Friendship Booth, which evolved into Ravinia’s Festival Shop. Her children chose to honor her with a very generous gift to the endowment fund, in perpetuity. This gift helps support Ravinia and will be celebrated on August 19 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performing “Once Upon a Time: Alan Menken’s Broadway.” Ravinia was the first to highlight American Classic Music Theater, followed by the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Goodman Theatre.
