Ravinia 2022, Issue 2
Pamela J. Mayo In August 1999, I attended my first Ravinia performance and sat in the last row of the Pavilion for Natalie Cole’s Snowfall on the Sahara Tour concert. That night was the beginning of a 23-year commitment to the Ravinia Festival and its mission to build broad and diverse audiences for classical music through education and community engagement. My personal dedication to Ravinia, as a member of the Board of Trustees and a co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, makes it a special honor to have the opportunity to sponsor the July 29 Breaking Barriers concert that will celebrate women at the forefront of classical music today. Thank you, Marin Alsop, and the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, for your ongoing focus to create opportunities for diverse artists and leaders to excel in classical music and beyond. Bravo!
