NATE RYAN (OKEE DOKEE) PAVILION 8:00 PM SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2023 CLASSIC ALBUMS LIVE Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary PINK FLOYD The Dark Side of the Moon –Intermission– PINK FLOYD Greatest Hits CLASSIC ALBUMS LIVE Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live stands out as the destination for music lovers who want to hear the greatest rock albums of all time performed live with- out gimmickry or cheesy impersonations. The musicians go to great lengths to faithfully re-create every sound heard on the original album. While there is a core group of musi- cians who are frequently part of the group’s productions, specialists of whichever instru- ments are required—such as sitarists, orches- tras, choirs, or schoolchildren—are brought in as needed. The group has performed al- bums by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Fleet- wood Mac, the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Guns N’ Roses, Queen, Radiohead, AC/DC, U2, David Bowie, The Doors, and many others. Classic Albums Live previously re-created Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon at Ravinia in 2013, as well as The Beatles’ Abbey Road (2014) and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (2018), Led Zeppelin’s second and fourth eponymous albums at Ravinia in 2015 and 2021, respectively, David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (2016), and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (2019). CAROUSEL STAGE 1:00 PM SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 2023 OKEE DOKEE BROTHERS † JUSTIN LANSING, banjo JOE MAILANDER, guitar † Ravinia debut OKEE DOKEE BROTHERS As childhood friends growing up in Den- ver, CO, Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing were always exploring the outdoors. Wheth- er it was rafting down their neighborhood creek, taking long bike rides into the coun- try or discovering hiking trails through the Rocky Mountains, Mailander and Lansing were born adventurers. Now, as the Gram- my Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers, they have put this passion for the outdoors at the heart of their musical collaborations. Mailander and Lansing record and perform family music with a goal to inspire children and their parents to get outside and experi- ence nature. They believe this can motivate kids to gain a greater respect for the natural world, their communities, and themselves. The Okee Dokee Brothers’ extended canoe trip down the Mississippi River inspired their Grammy-winning album Can You Canoe? (2012), which was the first in their Adventure Album Series along with their trek along the Appalachian Trail for 2014’s Grammy-nom- inated Through the Woods and their West- ern sojourn for 2016’s Grammy-nominated Saddle Up , all of which were accompanied by blogs of their travels. With songs written by campfire and harmonies born on the wa- ter, the natural world is at the heart of their Americana folk music. The five-time Parents’ Choice Award winners have garnered praise from the likes of NPR’s All Things Considered and USA Today , attracting a nationwide fan base with their witty lyrics, strong musician- ship, and unique folk style. By appealing to the musical needs of the entire family and recognizing that kids deserve quality music, the Okee Dokee Brothers are working full- time to advance the family music genre. Also earning a Grammy nomination with 2018’s Winterland , they released their newest album, Brambletown , earlier this year. Regularly on tour for live performances, the Okee Dokee Brothers have been featured at the Cedar Cul- tural Center in Minneapolis, the Getty and Segerstrom Centers in California, the Win- nipeg Folk Festival, Symphony Space in New York, Children’s Theatre in the Woods at Wolf Trap in Virginia, Austin City Limits, and the National Book Festival in Washington, DC. The Okee Dokee Brothers are making their Ravinia debut. RAVINIA.ORG • RAVINIA MAGAZINE 39
