THIAGO TIBERIO A young and energetic new talent with a budding international career in classical, op- eratic, and film music, polyglot conductor and multi-instrumentalist Thiago Tiberio is perhaps the only maestro in the world who makes his own batons and binds his scores in hardcover. Often praised by his peers for ma- ture musicianship, clarity of expression, and accurate technique, Tiberio is a multifaceted musician who has worked with orchestras in Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Australia, Switzerland, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, and the United States. He has received critical accolades for a performance of Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony with the Neojiba Youth Orchestra, as well as a concert with the Brazil National Symphony Orchestra that included the world premiere of a new critical edition of Walter Burle Marx’s Fantasia Sobre o The- ma do Hymno Nacional and the first performance of the composer’s Third Symphony in 40 years, marking the beginning of an extensive musical restoration project by the Tiberio. He is a special- ist in musical synchronization to film, having conducted orchestras in scoring sessions during most of his career. This naturally led to positions in live-to-picture concert productions, such as The Lord of the Rings , Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton , and The Nightmare Be- fore Christmas . In 2017, Tiberio adapted the film Love Actually to a live-to-picture concert setting, and he recently worked with composer James Newton Howard on the creation of The Hunger Games in Concert as music director and technical engineer. He has also arranged, orchestrated, and directed concert performances of Cinema Paradiso , The Goonies , Coraline , Grease , Twilight , Bridget Jones’ Diary , and Get Out . Having earned a master’s degree in music composition from New York University and bachelor’s degrees in music and business administration, Tiberio has received such honors as an Emmy, a Luso-Brazilian Award from the United Nations, and an In- ternational Brazilian Press Award. Thiago Tiberio made his Ravinia debut in 2019 leading a show- ing of Disney/Pixar’s Coco and returned last year with a showing of Disney’s The Lion King (2019). CHICAGO PHILHARMONIC The Chicago Philharmonic Society is a collaboration of nearly 200 of the highest-level classical musicians in the Midwest. The orchestra, known as Chicago Philharmonic, has been called one of the country’s finest symphonic orchestras, and its unique chamber music ensembles perform as Chicago Phil Chamber. Governed by musician leadership, the society is structured for versatility, curating the best ensemble for each concert from its exceptional pool of musicians, be it classical, jazz, pop, movie concerts, outreach programming, or anything else. The society’s community engagement programs connect Chicago-area youth to classical music by providing access to symphonic concerts, mentorship from Chicago Philharmonic musicians, and performance opportunities. Chicago Philharmonic excels in creating boundary-breaking, innovative programs, presenting major world and American premieres, and performing beloved orchestral classics. Founded by musicians of the Lyric Opera Orchestra in 1989, Chicago Philharmonic is known for providing symphonic support to international and national touring companies in all music genres. In addition to its three-decade association with Ravinia Festival, it served as the official orchestra of The Joffrey Ballet for eight years. The Chicago Philharmonic performs throughout the Chicago area, at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Auditorium Theatre, North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, Symphony Center, and The Chicago Theatre. The Illinois Council of Orchestras has awarded the Chicago Philharmonic with a range of honors, including Orchestra of the Year (2018), Programming of the Year (2019), Community Relations of the Year (2019), Executive Director of the Year (2020), and Conductor of the Year (2021).
