ABBA’s music continues to be a sensation for audiences of all ages. In the spirit of the peerless pop sensation, the evening spotlights a dazzling wardrobe, incredible singers and musicians, and performances of some of ABBA’s most beloved songs: “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” “Take A Chance,” “SOS,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “Super Trouper,” “Waterloo,” and many more. 7:30 PM SATURDAY, JULY 6 PAVILION DARYL HALL + ELVIS COSTELLO & THE IMPOSTERS with CHARLIE SEXTON Two titans of classic rock, Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello &The Imposters return to Ravinia to co-headline at the Pavilion. Daryl Hall has one of the most distinct voices in rock—his lyrics and vocals on tracks like “She’s Gone,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” and “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” have cemented him as one of the great pop hit-makers. Elvis Costello skyrocketed to rock and roll fame in the 1970s and has toured and recorded ever since, forming The Imposters with frequent musical collaborators in the early 2000s and producing hits like “Don’t Look Now” and “Unwanted Number.” 8:00 PM THURSDAY, JULY 11 CAROUSEL STAGE THE RESET: An Immersive Sound Experience with DAVIN YOUNGS From Chicago’s Orchestra Hall to the rooftop at Ace Hotel and Arcosanti in the Arizona desert, The RESET transforms the world’s most iconic spaces into sanctuaries of stillness and sound. Singer, sound healing artist, and voice coach Davin Youngs creates one-of-a-kind, immersive, sonic experiences at the crossroads of wellness and music using his voice, sound healing instruments, and electronic loops. It’s a dancing start to the six weeks, between Copland’s classic Appalachian Spring (featuring the “Simple Gifts” hymn) and the jazzy Charleston by Johnson. Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha sings a portrait of the small-town South in Barber’s Knoxville , and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue receives a 100th- birthday salute at the hands of Michelle Cann . 7:30 PM SATURDAY, JULY 13 PAVILION CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MARIN ALSOP , conductor ABEL SELAOCOE , cello and voice BERNHARD SCHIMPELSBERGER , drums IRYNA ALEKSIYCHUK: Go where the wind takes you ABEL SELAOCOE: Four Spirits LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 5 South African cellist-composer Abel Selaocoe joins Marin Alsop and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for his Four Spirits , which “takes the concerto format to thrillingly unprecedented places” ( Bachtrack ). Themes of faith, ancestral wisdom, and community permeate Selaocoe’s music, giving a contrasting life perspective to Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony and its distinct explorations of fate.
