RAVINIA’S STEANS MUSIC INSTITUTE 27 SINGERS EVENTS several prizes at important violin events, such as the “Iordens Viooldagen”, “Davina van Wely Violin Competition”, “Princess Christina Competition” Young Musician of the Year 2007 and, in 2013, the national “Oskar Back Violin Competition” in Amsterdam. Amarins is first violinist of the Barbican quartet with whom she studies in Madrid with Günter Pichler. The quartet recently won the St Martin in the Field Chamber Competition in London and the International Joseph Joachim Chamber music Competition in Weimar. Amarins plays on a Guadagnini violin built in 1764 on loan from the Dutch National Instrument Foundation. Minami Yoshida , violin Starling Foundation Fellowship Minami Yoshida is currently studying with Prof. Miriam Fried and as a chamber music student of Prof. Nicholas Cords at New England Conservatory (NEC), and also she is a student of Prof. Koichiro Harada at Toho School of Music Solist Diploma course. Among the major awards she has received are 1st prize and many music awards in The Music Competition of Japan in 2014, the finalist in the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in 2015 and 3rd prize in the Montreal International Musical Competition in 2016 . She received two famous music awards in 2016 in Japan. As a soloist she has performed with numerous orchestras, and also she has been featured on TV and radio broadcasts. She is also a member of the Nico Quartet which was formed at the NEC and nominated as a Honors Ensemble. She is the recipient of scholarships from the NEC, the Toho School of Music, the Tan Family Education Foundation and the Ezoe Memorial Foundation. Tom Zalmanov , piano Jim Borowitz Memorial Fellowship, Mr. and Mrs. James Doppke Sr. Fellowship, and Margaret Farr Wilson Memorial Fellowship from Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Hunter III Israeli-born pianist Tom Zalmanov (b. 1999) is a student at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv, Class of Prof. Emanuel Krasovsky. Previously studied in Jerusalem with Mrs. Lea Agmon. Tom performs in Israel as well as in Europe, Asia and the US, both as a soloist and as a devoted chamber musician. Tom has collaborated with conductors such as Frederic Chaslin, Uri Segal and Vakhtang Kakhidze, performing with leading orchestras including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, among others. Fellow of Ravinia Stean’s Music Institute 2018, Tom received coachings and lessons from leading musicians such as Miriam Fried, Leon Fleisher, Robert Levin and more. First prize winner of the Voice of Music “Young Artist” competition and ”Piano Forever” Competition, Israel. Participant of the Goldman Program of the Jerusalem Music Centre, Tom is a participant in master classes and intensive piano studies with Maestro Murray Perahia and with other world-acclaimed artists such as Emanuel Ax, Angela Hewitt, Menachem Pressler and many others. Recipient of the America- Israel Cultural Foundation excellence scholarships and scholarships from “Tzfonot Tarbut”. Paula Zarzo , viola Rosenson Fellowship from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rosenson Born in Madrid in 1995, the violist Paula Zarzo started her Bachelor Degree at the age of 12 in the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, where she graduated with honors at the age of 16. She then moved to Berlin to continue her viola studies with Prof. Hartmut Rohde at the University of the Arts of Berlin, where she got her Masters Degree. She had her debut as a soloist at 11 years old in Valencia (Spain) and since then, she has played solo with orchestra all around Spain and Germany. She has taken part in some of the best renowned music festivals around the world, like Salzburger Festival, Kronberg Academy, Verbier Festival, Prussia Cove International Seminar... In 2011 and 2013 she was awarded with the “Conductors Prize” and the “Association Prize” of the Carl Flesh Academy. She often collaborates with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic.
