The Best Bets for Fall Flowers
Keep it simple – and seasonally colorful –
when it comes to your blooms for your fall wedding
By Anna Sachse, CTW Features
The monochromatic look of using one color
for one flower looks stunning. Both red and
white roses are favorite floral choices for
when the mercury begins to dip. Flowers
can just make a statement by themselves.
Here are a few go-to flowers for off-season
weddings.
CALLA LILIES
For bridal flowers themselves, use the small
crystal blush ivory calla lily. It holds up like
iron.
While a few big, tall callas make a simple
dramatic arrangement – hand-tied as a
bouquet or in a tall cylindrical vase on the
table – an all-time favorite bouquets is a
tight, hand-tied bouquet of around 35 mini
calla lilies – no fillers, just the callas lilies.
It’s a very classic and very clean look.
HYDRANGEAS
Hydrangea is very wintry, big and full and
lush. Try to use hydrangeas with no greens
showing – as very tight and as large as can
be. On the table, place a ball of hydrangeas
atop a vase.
BERRIES
Use berries (burr-eez) as accent pieces in
bouquets. Use a light or whitish hyperi-
can berry or winter berry placed at cer-
tain points in the bouquet as highlights. It
breaks up – in certain people’s mind – the
monotony of one flower or very few colors.
Hydrangeas, mini calla lilies and ivory roses
are his go-to flowers for berry accents.
FALL FLOWERS
Choose florals in the colors of the season –
rust mums and orange gerbera daisies, roses
and orchids. Gords can add fall flavor to a
table arrangement.
