Once you have outlined all of those things you can work on writing a story featuring the

character OR decide how you would embody that character if you were acting.

Physical appearance

-- What does the

character look like?

(Think about the character’s age, facial features, dress,

posture, movements, mannerisms, and speech)

Background

– What are their experiences

and surroundings?

(Think about their education, family, childhood experiences,

profession, other relationships, habits, and health)

Personality

-- How does the character act?

(Think about any distinctive traits, yearnings/dreams, fears/

apprehensions, sense of humor, code of ethics, and attitude)

Other details:

(Think about the character’s hobbies, skills, favorite foods,

favorite colors, favorite books, etc.)

Create a character!

Writers (and actors) take time to create characters. They hope

to create characters that you will care about. Here is an

activity where you can use your imagination to create a character

of your own! Start by listing as many adjectives (descriptive

words) as you can in each of the following categories.
