ing of age in Blackpool, England, Ian Anderson
was a student of ne art before striking out on
a musical career.

Band, of which Anderson was a member. Widely
recognized as the man who introduced the ute
to rock music, he began experimenting with the

expanded his acoustic palette to include several
ethnic utes and whistles as well as guitars and
mandolins, providing the sound textures that
