Internationally renowned soul vocalist Seal rst
came onto the music scene with funk band Push
in his native England. e group toured Japan in
the mid-’ s, and while he was in Asia he joined
a ailand-based blues band. Upon returning to
England, Seal met Adamski and provided the
lyrics and vocals for the house/techno produc-
er’s “Killer,” which became a number-one hit
in
and earned Seal a solo record contract.
His eponymous debut album—his rst of many
collaborations with producer Trevor Horn—
was released in
to great success, topping the
charts at home and getting worldwide exposure
with the universal top- hit “Crazy.”
Seal II
was
released three years later and became an even
bigger hit when “Kiss from a Rose” was featured
on the soundtrack to
’s
Batman Forever

song subsequently spent weeks as a
Billboard
number one and won three Grammy Awards,
including as Record of the Year and Song of the
Year.
Human Being
hit the shelves in

its
follow-up
Togetherland
never material-
ized, though its song “ is Could Be Heaven”

Seal IV
was released in

marked his rst top- album in the US, driv-
en by the top dance tracks “Get It Together,”
“Love’s Divine,” and “Waiting for You.” In
Seal teamed up with producer David Foster for

, featuring covers of classic soul standards.
e album captured the spirit of the ’ s with
songs by Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, among
others, melding the social consciousness of that
era with that of the present. e
follow-up
Soul
echoed the formula, featuring songs from
the likes of Marvin Gaye and Teddy Pender-
grass. On his most recent album,
Standards
, the
singer-songwriter turned to Rat Pack–era jazz,
recording in Frank Sinatra’s studios and with his
side musicians. Seal is making his third appear-
