How to Light Up Your Wedding
Set the right mood for your big day with these 5 bright ideas for lighting fixtures
By Caitlin Mullen Puterbaugh, CTW Features
Whether they’re twinkly, glowing or bright, the right lights
can make a big impact in your wedding venue.
Here are 5 lighting ideas to incorporate into your wedding
design to make it truly shine:
1. PINSPOT LIGHTS
Pinspot lighting refers to a small light suspended from a
high point on the ceiling, illuminating flowers, centerpiec-
es, cake tables or other important details from above.
If you can only do one thing, pin spots are very effective.
This enhances the look of the flower and showcases what
you’ve spent so much time and money working on. It can
also help to extend the life of your flowers through the
entire evening, even after the room gets dark.
2. CAFÉ LIGHTS
If you’re looking for a more intimate vibe for your soiree go
with some form of café or string lights. This style of lighting
has been a huge wedding trend in recent years and not
going anywhere anytime soon.
3. PILLAR CANDLES IN HURRICANE GLASSES
Candles are another classic and inexpensive way to give
your wedding a romantic glow.
Everyone wants something sparkly: twinkle lights, tons of
candles, anything to create a romantic atmosphere.
Try filling a bunch of hurricane glasses with black pillar
candles or floating tea candles in centerpieces to create
a cozy atmosphere.
4. COLORED UPLIGHTING
Colored uplighting is the perfect choice is you want to add
some drama to your décor by essentially swathing a space
in the color of your choice.
Room uplighting is incredibly effective. Your event designer
can help you select the hue that’s appropriate for your
wedding. A soft blush pink or a warm ivory gives the room
a gentle glow.
5. MAGNETIC LED LIGHTS
A newer wedding lighting trend,
magnetic LED lights are extremely
versatile and easy to use.
Use these on dark stairs or areas
that need extra light, and their
cordless, moveable ease makes
them dreamy for weddings.
